Frolicsome Firelizards
I'm thinking of creating little firelizard adoptables (small fire breathing dragons from Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series also known as Flits). They'd come with a variety of markings similar to how FR does genes on their dragons and be available for purchase with treasure/gems/USD.
They'd be breedable and come in McCaffrey's canon colors to begin with (non-canon colors may be added at a later date with specific conditions). Markings can be passed down randomly to the offspring based upon the rarity level of the marking. Some markings would also be able to overlap another on the same 'layer' (as seen in my examples below)
A quick rundown of Firelizards for those who haven't read the books:
- They come in five colors that dictate their gender, size, rarity, and place in the social hierarchy. These colors are as follows:
Gold/Queens: Female, largest, Very Rare, Matriarch - mates with bronzes primarily and sometimes browns
Bronze: Male, second largest, Rare, Mates with any female
Brown: Male, mid sized, Uncommon, mates with any female
Blue: Male, second smallest, Common, mates with greens
Green: Female, smallest, Common, mates with any male
- The shades of these colors can vary drastically and each marking on a firelizard can have it's own shade in that color range. Gold and Bronze firelizards will also have a 'glow' representing their 'metallic' hides. These hides are not scaled, but instead are soft and suede-like with a musky spicy scent.
- They can breath fire by eating a special stone native to their world and exhaling the gas that builds up in their stomachs as a result.
- They can also teleport from one place to another through what is called between.
- Firelizards are slightly more intelligent than the average house pet. They communicate verbally using trills, whistles and cries similar to birds; as well as mentally using images and feelings. They don't use words understandable by humans.
- Each firelizard can form a life long mental bond to a human partner upon hatching or go wild. There is no limit as to how many firelizards can bond to a single human except that own human's sanity! Imagine that many little creatures in your head wanting attention and love and treats. It is suggested a single human have no more than one gold due to their tendency to fight with each other over territory.
- Firelizard eyes are segmented like insect eyes and change color depending upon the firelizard's mood.
Blue & Green: Content or happy
Red: Hungry, Angry
Yellow: Fear, worry
Orange: Uncertainty, suspicion
Purple: Lustful, proddy, ready to mate
White: Intense fear
Grey: In pain, emotional or physical
This 'shop' would have another incarnation on Gaiaonline as well. Firelizards there can ONLY be bought with Gaia Gold. Gaia does not allow it's currency to be bought, sold, or traded for any other online or offline currency.
Examples:
A Gold firelizard featuring four markings as well as the metallic glow and cert. (this is an outdated example, some details have been fixed in regards to the markings and that random line has been taken care of!)
And an unmarked Blue firelizard without the cert.
